Contradictions, complexities, and conflict are all around us - and this is necessarily a bad thing. I explore these through my writing.
I've had an eclectic career path, which has included work in resource extraction (forestry, fisheries, mining), the health sector (senior leader), and higher education (senior leader and faculty).
I've run a solopreneur firm on the side for decades. Projects have included research, strategic planning, facilitation, and administrative clean-up after messes. I left full-time employment in April 2022 and returned to the solopreneur life.
I am currently building a digital writing and creative-education business from scratch. Some of this is here on Medium, including co-founding Humanity Academy.
I publish a free weekly newsletter- Box Cutter. I share my systems and processes for building, practicing, and writing in public. You're welcome to check it out before subscribing.
I have been a professor in higher education for many years teaching in various disciplines: human resource management, technical writing, communication, personal development, and tourism.
I have a Doctor of Education. My education credentials specialize in adult education and online distance education. My doctoral research focussed on critical self-reflection in personal and professional practice.
My research and writing intersect all of these sectors and topics by synthesizing and reflecting on various ways of thinking and relating. Some of this I do through rudimentary sketching and illustrations.
My stories are a collection of thoughts, perspectives, and exploration of paradoxes. I'm curious about how we relate to people and places within us and around us.
If I'm not inside writing, I'm generally outside exploring.
